Travelling to Rostock
The international airports in Hamburg (HAM) and Berlin (BER) are connected to all major European cities. From there, Rostock can easily be reached by high-speed and regional train connections.
We encourage travelling by train. Rostock is well connected within Germany's high-speed train network (IC/ICE). From neighbouring countries, it is often possible to travel by train without much additional travel time. Please make sure to check international train connections before booking a short-haul flight.
Tip: Group fares often offer large discounts. Alternatively, you may want to consider an Interrail ticket, starting from 185 € for a return trip.
Arrival via Hamburg
The "S-Bahn" number S1 connects the airport to Hamburg Central Station. Trains run every 10 minutes, the journey takes about 25 minutes. From the central station, there are frequent connections to Rostock, either by high-speed trains (IC/ICE) or regional trains (RE). Please use the booking form of Deutsche Bahn to find your connection.
Tip: If you travel in a group, the cheapest fare is the "Mecklenburg-Vorpommern-Ticket". This ticket allows you to take any regional train to Rostock (including the S-Bahn in Hamburg) starting at only 6.80 €/person.
Arrival via Berlin
From BER terminals 1 and 2, there are direct high-speed train connections to Rostock that run every two hours. Alternatively, you can find frequent regional train connections beween Rostock and Berlin Hbf (Central Station), which usually offer cheaper fares. All airport terminals can be accessed by S-Bahn or bus connections.
Please find your train connection using the booking form of Deutsche Bahn for arrivals at BER. Note: Please make sure to select the correct terminal (T1-2, T5) in the booking form.
If you prefer to travel by bus, use one of the direct connections between BER and Rostock.
For domestic travel, we recommend travlling by train. Rostock Central Station offers a variety of direct connections to many German cities. Alternatively, travelling via Hamburg or Berlin (see above) basically offers connections to all major cities in Germany. Please use the booking service of Deutsche Bahn to find your connection.
